Netstar recently partnered with South Australia Emergency Services in line with our commitment to safety. We are installing advanced vehicle location (AVL) technology in 1,600 vehicles across the state. The newly installed AVL technology will help emergency services respond to calls faster and more efficiently. Ultimately helping to save lives.

The software took nine months to perfect and fit in Country Fire ServiceMetropolitan Fire ServiceState Emergency ServiceForestrySA, and the Department for Environment and Water operations vehicles, across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

Emergency service vehicles are a vital part of any community. In addition, they provide critical services in emergencies, and their response time and situational awareness can be the difference between life and death. With the ever-increasing demand for emergency services, it is more important than ever to have a way to locate and manage these vital resources.

Safety is the number one priority.

With Netstar’s in-vehicle location technology, personnel can track emergency service vehicles in real-time. In addition, the in-built SOS, crash and rollover function helps keep emergency service personnel as safe as possible in the line of duty.

The in-built SOS function can send instant alarms if an emergency service vehicle is involved in an incident. This feature provides an extra layer of safety for emergency personnel. Who often put themselves in harm’s way to help others. The new in-vehicle Netstar Situational Awareness Software SAS is displayed on the Samsung Galaxy tablet, and the Netstar Telematics unit is also valuable. Helping in coordinating large-scale emergency response efforts. The real-time tracking of up to 200 vehicles via 4G and iridium short burst data satellite coverage displayed on the in-vehicle tablet helps ensure that personnel and assets are utilised effectively.

During incidents, live updates on the location of vehicles and personnel are mission-critical. As well as other vital data such as the vehicle’s location, emergency status, nearby geofences and Points of Interest help keep first responders safe and informed. The new SAS software was designed to improve the coordination and communication between the different services across the state. Allowing them to work more efficiently and cohesively.

Situational Awareness Software is an essential addition to any large-scale emergency response plan.

Accordingly, the tablet-based system allows other emergency service applications to be uploaded. Making it a versatile platform for coordinating all aspects of an emergency response. The information is only available to authorised users via an intuitive online interface.
